Sunday Morning Sustenance
His mysteriously blond hair was falling across his eyes. Over a plate of half-eaten scrambled eggs, he stood on the counter stool, wearing only the top of his red pajamas, the skin around his mouth stained dark purple with juicy black raspberries. His spindly legs stuck out of a diaper like upside-down pins in a pin cushion. Grinning big, eyes sparkling with the knowledge that he was about to melt my heart, Cass said, for the first time, words pushed together tightly. Seamlessly. "I love you."
