The Februaries

It's cabin fever time! Being cooped up in the house with two extremely active boys during winter begets a certain ferocity of the stir crazies. It's easy to forget some of those spontaneous moments of goofy creative play and cozy winter afternoons that can only happen in the dead of winter, when there's nothing else to do but invent, imagine, cook, color and cuddle. Here are a spare few I managed to grab the camera for.

A Birthday Party of Four

The boys loved helping bake the cake and make makeshift decorations for Ryan's "surprise" birthday party. In fact, Cass, inheriting someone's perfectionist gene, was rather disappointed that our decorations weren't more elaborate. He said, "Mom, I'm just so upset. It doesn't look like how I imagined it in my head. We need to go get balloons! The kind that float in the air!" I assured him that Ryan would still love it and appreciate all the work we put into making his birthday special. I love how excited they were for Ryan to walk through the door.
